White Wine
Volcanes de Chile Sauvignon Blanc 2024, Leyda Valley D.O., Chile: Volcanes de Chile Reserva Sauvignon Blanc from Leyda Valley is a zesty, light to medium-bodied white offering aromas of white grapefruit, freshly cut grass, and hints of sea salt. It's bone dry with crisp acidity and vibrant citrus flavors. Serve it well chilled with grilled shrimp tacos as the wine's bright minerality and herbaceous notes will enhance the charred seafood and fresh cilantro beautifully, or pair it with goat cheese and herb salad where the wine's refreshing character and citrus zing will complement the tangy cheese perfectly. Winemaker Pilar Díaz, whose mother was one of Chile's most renowned winemakers in the 1980s, trained in Burgundy, Napa Valley, and Marlborough before joining Volcanes de Chile in 2009 to craft wines that showcase Chile's diverse volcanic terroirs. The winery's philosophy centers on expressing the distinctive minerality imparted by volcanic soils formed over millions of years of seismic activity, and this wine displays the subtle saline sweetness that makes volcanic soil wines so immediately recognizable. Enjoy now or cellar for 2-3 years. Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: grilled shrimp tacos, goat cheese and herb salad, seared scallops with lemon butter. Koutsodimos Varietals Collection Agiorgitiko 2024, Peloponnese P.G.I., Greece: Koutsodimos Varietals Collection Agiorgitiko from the Peloponnese bursts with aromas of tart cherry, wild strawberry, dark chocolate, and warm baking spices with hints of dried herbs. Dry and medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins, it flows across the palate with generous dark berry fruit and closes with a balanced, peppery finish. Serve it slightly below room temperature or cellar it through 2030. Panagiotis Koutsodimos, Quality Control Manager with a Master's degree in Oenology-Viticulture from the Agricultural University of Athens, leads the winemaking alongside the skilled team at this family estate founded in 1985 by Andreas Koutsodimos and Chris Gastouniotis in the heart of Nemea, Greece's largest viticultural zone where the indigenous Agiorgitiko grape has been cultivated since ancient times and was praised in 18th and 19th century travel books as "black, strong, the best wine of Moria." Pair this food-friendly red with grilled lamb souvlaki where the wine's bright fruit complements the charred, herb-rubbed meat, or enjoy it with moussaka as the juicy tannins cut through the béchamel and spiced lamb layers beautifully.
