Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler Riesling Kabinett 2011, Prädikatswein, Bernkasteler Badstube, Mosel, Germany: A pleasant-drinking, light-bodied white with aromas of white pear and lime. Bernkasteler Badstube is viewed as some of the best vineyard soils in the Mosel region. There's some orchard fruit on the finish here. Crisp and vibrant, yet has some balancing fruit sweetness so as not to be austere and to pair well with a wider variety of dishes. Some guava and papaya infused with smoke on the finish. Clos Du Val Estate Btld. Chardonnay 2010, Carneros, Napa Valley, California, United States: An alluring Chardonnay with just the right balance of toasty vanilla oak and ripe pear aromas. M. Chapoutier Invitare Viognier 2011, A.C., Condrieu, Rhône, France: Gloriously and exotically unusual. If you haven't tried Condrieu, especially from renowned producer Chapoutier, you must. Surprising acidity is ready for many dishes, especially cream sauces on chicken, seafood and pasta. Gorgeous notes of peach, pear and baking spices.
