Hunter’s Wines is a recognised pioneer of the Marlborough wine industry and one of New Zealand’s best known family owned wineries. Established in 1979 by Irishman the late Ernie Hunter, the company is now headed by Jane Hunter who has been instrumental in establishing the Marlborough region as one of the New Zealand’s major grape growing regions.

Some 30 years on, Jane has become internationally recognised in her own right and is the recipient of many awards and acknowledgements’, including the prestigious Woman in Wine Award (UK), an O.B.E. and in the 2009 New Years honours Jane received a CNZM (Companion to the New Zealand Order of Merit) for services to viticulture.

Gary Duke, Chief Winemaker at Hunter’s since 1991, has continued the tradition of producing exceptional wines that have come to epitomise the ‘classic’ Marlborough flavour palate. His wines are consistently awarded trophies and medals around the world, recognition of his commitment to Hunter’s philosophy of ‘Quality not Quantity’.

Hunter’s offer a unique tourism experience hosting the oldest original winery café in Marlborough – Hunter’s Garden Café, an artist in residence – Clarry Neame and an award winning Marlborough Native garden.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

  Best Books of the Year

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
