Red Wine

Fontanafredda Pensiero Barolo 2016, Piedmont D.O.C.G., Italy: 2016 was one of Barolo's great vintages, and this bottle from Fontanafredda shows real staying power almost a decade later. Dried plum and clove show up first, warm tobacco settling in behind. Grippy tannins still hold surprising freshness, firm and structured throughout. This will keep developing for years yet. Pair it with slow-braised osso buco or aged Parmigiano-Reggiano. Barolo food pairings: slow-braised osso buco, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, truffled mushroom pasta. Drink: 2026 - 2038 50809 14.5% XD 750 mL $79.95 Score: 99/100. September 2026. Full Review Add to Shopping Cart

White Wine

Maison Champy Pernand-Vergelesses Chardonnay 2023, Côte De Beaune, Burgundy, France: Maison Champy, founded in Beaune in 1720, holds the remarkable distinction of being the oldest négociant in Burgundy, and this Côte de Beaune Chardonnay from the AdVini-owned house draws on their 21 hectares of estate vineyards stretching from Volnay to Corton-Charlemagne. Pale gold in the glass, it opens with white nectarine, toasted almond, citrus blossom, and a cool limestone minerality from the Beaune hillside soils, then delivers a medium-bodied, focused palate of lemon curd and green apple with a long, vivacious finish and balanced acidity. The 15th-century cellars beneath the Rue du Grenier à Sel in Beaune, awarded Living Heritage status by the French government in 2021, are where this wine is vinified, aged, and bottled. Drink it now through 2029 with poultry in white sauce, pasta with shellfish, or poached trout. Chardonnay food pairings: poultry in white sauce, pasta with shellfish, poached trout. Drink: 2026 - 2033 39801 13% XD 750 mL $61.95 Score: 94/100. September 2026. Full Review Add to Shopping Cart
