Asúa Reserva 2016, Rioja D.O.C.A., Spain: Produced by CVNE, Asúa Reserva 2016 is a 100% Tempranillo from the Rioja Alta wine region. Dry, full-bodied and rich with dark plum fruit, savoury herbs, dark spices, vibrant with a long, smoky finish and grippy tannins that leave you contemplating about visiting the Rioja. Grapes are grown 600 metres above sea level, where the winds sweep in from the cold Atlantic, but the south-facing vines and grapes enjoy the protection of the Sierra de Cantabria mountain range. The whole grapes are cold macerated and semi-crushed within 24 hours upon their arrival to the winery keeping the grape juice fresh. Three Paddles Pinot Noir 2017, Martinborough, North Island, New Zealand: From Nga Waka, Three Paddles 2017 Pinot Noir is a delicious, mature PN produced from grapes sourced from the Martinborough, North Island wine region in New Zealand. This winery's name is taken from Nga Waka a Kupe (the canoes of Kupe) for the three hills that stand beside each other and look like upturned canoes. Valpantena Torre del Falasco Valpolicella Ripasso 2019, Veneto D.O.C., Italy: Torre Del Falasco 2019 Valpolicella Ripasso is a vibrant, full-bodied Amarone from Valpantena produced from mostly Corvina Veronese with some Rondinella and Corvinone wine grapes. Ripasso is a winemaking technique that takes Valpolicella (from the Veneto region) and then introduces the lees of Amarone into the wine. There is enough residual sugar in those lees to allow a second fermentation that produces a bigger, richer wine.
