Hickory woodsmoke, campfire all the way. Please, tell me that campfire story again as the smoke swirls around my head and the stars above us on this mid-summer night. Perfect for grilled meats. Ironstone delivers extreme value in the glass at many price points. Pair this blockbuster red with BBQ chicken or ribs.

Zinfandel food pairings: barbecued ribs, wings, burgers, spaghetti Bolognaise, aged cheddar.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

From the Mecca of Zinfandel in Calilfornia - Lodi. At $18 this Ironstone is worth every cent. Gobs of stewed and jammy fruit, chocolate, coffee, cracked black pepper, saddle, and smoke. Acidity is balanced and preps the palate for each sip. This is a medium-bodied Zinfandel with a rich, velvety mouthfeel. This is definitely worth a half a case and put it away for those summer BBQ's we're starting to dream about during these dark winter months. Or enjoy on it's own...I did.
Tasted: January 2016
Smoky great Californian red wine made from the state's classic Zinfandel grape, and offering lusciously ripe black and purple plum aromas. Made from Old Vine Zin planted in Lodi. Ironstone has been making wine for four generations now, farming sustainably in California. Vines more than 45 years old produce this blockbuster Zinfandel. The winery is located in the historic Gold Rush town of Murphys. - Community Wine Reviews
