Masterfully made: great value too. A well-rounded, balanced Niagara Chardonnay: not heavy or wimpy, just right. Toasted almond and golden apple aromas. Nice mouth-feel. Pair with roast turkey or chicken.

Chardonnay food pairings: roast chicken, lobster in butter, corn dishes, pork, fried chicken, almonds, brie, camembert.

Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A fine and elegant wine with a nose of apple, barrel spice, citrus, and oak. Ripe orchard fruits, namely apple and pear, lemon, wet stone, minerality, and a fair and pleasant oak influence characterize the palate of this great Chardonnay. Obviously ripe, but acidity is maintained, and balanced with 13.5% ABV and an extra dry 2 g/l residual sugar. Sourced from select parcels within the Estate Vineyard possessing vines approximately 32 to 38 years of age growing in calcerous clay over shale and sandstone. The lower yielding old vines offer enhanced concentration reflected in the finished product. Fermentation split between stainless steel, old French oak, and new French oak, with some indigenous yeast employed. Bottled after a year sur lie and 35% of the wine put through malolactic fermentation. This calls for New England clam chowder, salmon, seafood risotto, or wine-braised rabbit.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This toasty Chardonnay that has aromas of pineapple, stone fruit and caramel. It is creamy on the palate, has crisp acidity with flavours of barbecued caramelised pineapple, lemon, and a touch of hazelnut at the finish.

A nice full bodied Chardonnay!

Tasted November 2017
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Pale lemon colour with delicate notes of apple, lemon, pear and a touch of yellow plum. Flavours are vibrant with crisp apples, grapefruit, apple blossom and cilantro herbal touches. High acidity, light body and finish. Very delicately lightly oaked but its not really detectable other than some light nuttiness. Nuances of mixed nuts. Delicious!
This Chardonnay from Beamsville Bench in the Niagara Escarpment wine region is well-structured and well made. Cave Spring Vineyard 2015 is great value as well under $20. Drink now and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews
