Reviews and Ratings

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Spicy plum with mushroom, mint, and cedar. plums and tart cherry dominate the taste, and the finish tends towards dark and tart cherry. There are some nice tannins as well giving it a pleasant mouth-feel.
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Tart cherry, just-underripe berry, smoke, mint, and minerality. The palate is a little tannic, with green peppercorn notes follows the sour cherry. Long finish. This wine needs to be decanted and paired with food. A rich, fatty cut of red meat wiould be best to offset this heavy wine.
Chris Coughlin - WSET level 3 grad rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Lots of big fruit flavours, blackberry, black cherry, cooking spice, and a long lasting finish. Steak and burger wine.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Cool bottle. Rich deep purple. Very fruity, with blackberry and ripe red fruit on the aroma, and a hint of pepper. Tart and slightly sour cherry on the palate, with lots of oak. Tannins are medium. Overall, a big wine, needs some food to interact with, maybe grilled burgers.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Dark cherry, dark berries, leather, with fresh cut hay on the nose. Palate shows dark berries, green pepper, with a long dark cherry finish. A lighter and more herbal style of Aussie Shiraz that's worth a try. Pair with peppercorn steaks.
Tasted August 2014. 87 points. Matt Steeves - @QuercusVino
Tom Vigeant reviewed this wine as follows:

Cherry and smoke aromas. Medium bodied. Medium tannins. Oaky and very dry. Alcohol is fairly intense. You really need to have this wine with food - grilled red meat being the obvious choice.
Community Reviewer reviewed this wine as follows:

Dark red in the glass, its legs cascade slowly due to its concentration and power. Possessing aromas of licorice, dark fruits and vanilla, this theme carries through on the palate with loads of rich, sweet fruit all wrapped in chalky, ripe tannins with persistence and structure to support the concentration of flavour. A wine that boldly showcases the beauty of blending two varieties that match like hand and glove delivering a memorable wine with loads of personality.
