Penfolds has a rich history of producing world-class wines year after year. The BIN 128 Shiraz is a well crafted wine. Deep ruby with a purple hue, the nose shows layers blueberry, blackberry, cola and baking spices. Tangy berries, clove, and dusty fine tannins make this a superb wine to enjoy with finer BBQ fare, or enjoy over the Winter with braised beef dishes. Tasted November 2014. 91+ points. Bin 138 - 2012 - a blend of 66% Shiraz, 23% Grenache, 11 Mataro. Rich smoky dark berries, prune, plum, and spice. Dry with loads of dark fruit, ample tannins, refreshing acidity. Enjoy with charcoal grilled premium cuts of beef with a blackberry compote. Tasted January 2017. 91 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Terry Jeans rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Ruby with some purple on the edges, with some interesting notes of spice box, ripe dark cherries, and plums. This is an elegant example of a shiraz that is departing from the typical fruit bomb that is known by most people of Australian wines. A good food wine with some bbq red meat.
Sean O'Regan rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Nov 16, 2014: Deep ruby, gorgeous nose of blackberry, stewed plums and cherry, and savoury notes of eucalyptus and spicebox. Full bodied and rich and ripe with flavours repeating the nose. Great structure and length. A very good value in premium Shiraz that would work well with braised beef, smoked meat and BBQ over the next 5-10 years.
Mike Craymer rated this wine as 94/100

Natalie's Review

Penfolds Bin 128 Shiraz 2012, Coonawarra, South Australia, Australia: This is what elegance and restraint tastes like from Australia: French grammar school, Australian graduate studies by the consummate gentleman winemaker Peter Gago. This wine was matured for a year in French oak, 26% of which was new. Lovely aromas of mint, cassis, blackcurrant and blackberry with just enough toasty warmth from the oak. Drink: 2013-2019. 509919 14% D 750 mL  $61.00 Score: 94/100. November 15, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine. Best Beef Wine  Full Review
