The 2011 Norman Hardie County Pinot Noir has intense aromas of pomegranate, raspberry, subtle cedar and smoke on the nose and strawberry, raspberry and vanilla on the palate. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry (though perceived as dry), fruity wine, with good acidity, refined tannins and a long, silky finish. Although food friendly, enjoy this beauty by itself; drink now and watch it evolve for the next 5-7 years. Rated at 92 pts, this is a highly recommended (based on quality and value) wine. Norman Hardie is one of my favourite local producers. I paid a visit to his winery this month with the intention of picking up my Thanksgiving Pinot. His unfiltered County Pinot is hard to beat. Just the right amount of acidity with lots of tart cherry on the palate. Needless to say - at the end of our turkey dinner tonight - the bottle was empty!

Love this wine! Beautiful expression of #PEC Pinot Noir. Medium body. Ruby colour. Fresh red fruit on the nose and palate with minerality and fresh acidity making it so food friendly. I had the pleasure of visiting Norman Hardie winey this past weekend. Missed the pizza but came home with 3 bottles. Voted best pizza wine, this Pinot would also pair nicely grilled salmon, seafood, chicken or anything else open to imagination! It's that good!

This Pinot Noir is a favorite for a couple reasons!

First is the wine itself ... the nose showcases sour red cherry with hints of raspberry, cherry, rhubarb and cranberry. You'll find the palate is full of perfectly ripe red berry fruit with a hint of spice with a perfect balance of acidity and tannins.

My second reason is Norm's incredible pizza. It's made and cooked onsite in a wood fired pizza oven using vegetables grown along side his grape vines! I've brought people there who have said it is the best pizza they've ever tasted. Whenever we stop by we have a couple of pizza's with this incredible Pinot Noir and it's at that moment you know you've found a special pairing in a special part of the province!
