Lesley Quinn rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Chianti Classico in general are great wines to explore. This Riserva has notes of cherries fresh off the tree, with a hint of tobacco coming in to spice things up. This 2009 Riserva could benefit from another year or 2 in the bottle as it is still settling down. I tried the 2008 and it was much more balanced. Chianti demands food to be consumed with it, and is fantastic with spicy smoky Italian Chorizo.

Casale dello Sparviero Chianti Classico Riserva 2009, Tuscany, Italy: Vibrant and energetic and full-bodied with enticing dark cherry notes, spice and a mouth-watering zing. Terrific for dishes with some acidity. Good value for the price. Drink: 2012-2016. 317313 14% XD 750 mL  $18.95 Score: 89/100. January 3, 2013 Perfect Pasta and Tomato Sauce Wine  Full Review

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
