Well structured, good value wine from Maipo Valley. Noticeable aromas of raspberry, cherry, and tobacco with some earthiness. Soft and flavourful with strawberry, red cherry, liquorice and ripe plum coming through on the palate. Black pepper and more dark ripe fruit on the finish. Elegant tannins and very nicely balanced for a young Cab Sauv. Pair with beef tenderloin or mushroom flan. Tasted November 2018
GRAN RESERVA / Savoury, cedar-rich Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. An extraordinary value. Luscious and full-bodied with layers of pleasure. Fleshy ripe black plums and dark spice. Yes please! Pair with ribs and steak. MINE: Vina Tarapaca Gran Reserva is a great value Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maipo Valley. Savoury with ripe black plums and dark spices, pair this full-bodied Cab with smoky barbequed ribs. OTHER: Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review: Beautiful Maipo Valley Cab Sauv. Big, playful and enticing aromatics meet a juicy, floral, herbal, earthy palate. Medium-long finish with persistence of blackberry, leather, black liquorice, mint, violet petals. Integrating well. Well balanced medium acidity, fruit, integrated alcohol, medium tannins which are settling nicely. Great value, accessibly priced and approachable. Well built for pairing with bbq season, steaks, gourmet burgers or beef arrachera tacos. Tasted 2015 vintage in March 2018 decanted 2h. 92 points. Good black fruits, medium structure and medium finish. A nice Chilean cab for the price for daily drinking. OTHER: Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier reviewed this wine as follows: An exquisite bouquet of floral (violet), red cherry, mint, and earthy underbrush aromas up front followed a lavish concentration of cherry, ripe plum, cassis, anise and dark chocolate flavours. Tannins are developing yet integrating well and balanced by mouth-watering acidity and a long flavourful finish. This beauty of wine worthy of about 7-10 more years in the cellar. If drinking now, decant for 2 hours prior to serving and enjoy with grilled prime rib. Tasted March 2018 by @sommsosa @ bespoketastings.ca. OTHER: A dense and rich cabernet yet in a more Rhone style. Earthy character. Hints of herbs, tobacco and spices. Medium-to-full body, juicy and round tannins and a flavorful finish. Cool climate undertones to this. Drink or hold.
