Supremely satisfying and lovely... just like Mom. Hint. Gorgeous notes of field strawberry and some subtle smoke on a long, refreshing finish. Mouth-watering and crisp with some orange citrus lift on the mid-palate. Some kind of wonderful. Pair with shellfish.

Champagne food pairings: turkey sandwiches, veal tenderloin, light fruit pastries.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

The very definition of true elegance. A beautiful pink color in the glass with copper hues. A bouquet of strawberry, raspberry and cherries and subtle hints of grapefruit, cinnamon, brioche and vanilla. The flavors mirror the nose, strawberry, toast, orange peel, and honey. So fresh on the palate, the acidity is sleek with a gorgeous mouthfeel, dancing bubbles and a lingering silky finish.
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This is terrific. For a vintage Champagne, this is actually a pretty awesome value.
This great vintage is an example of what wines taste like when everything goes perfectly, from harvest to the press. The fruit are concentrated, but still elegant and complex.
It has a lovely rose-gold colour. The bubbles are fine and not aggressive.
Aromas of orange flower, cranberry, cherry, pear, brioche, honey, and cornflower.
The flavours are pire and delicious. More citrusy grapefruit, orange, and cherry. There's a ruminating smoke and rooibos finish.
These flavours should continue to evolve for at least another decade. Tuck a couple away, if you can. It's pretty drinkable now. For wines of this distinction, I recommend not using flutes. It is so complex and aromatic. All of that is missed when it is put in a narrow glass.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier reviewed this wine as follows:

This light salmon coloured Champagne is rich with brioche, baked apple, and raspberry aromas. It has crisp lemony tartness with croissant flavours and traces of red berries. The flavours linger on the palate. A beautiful treat!

Pair with appetizers, lobster, creamy or buttery dishes, or with fried food.

Tasted November 2017
Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Vintage Brut 2008 is bone dry with toast, bright berries and wild strawberries, light orange citrus and a wisp of smoke on the palate. So lovely with a persistent and creamy mousse on the palate. We are so glad that in 1775, Veuve Clicquot exported the first two bottles of rosé champagne. Chill and enjoy the good life now. - Community Wine Reviews
