Aromas of dates and prunes on the nose and palate of this robust, smooth red wine. Perhaps a year past peak or a little oxidized?

Aglianico Del Vulture food pairings: pork cutlets, Salisbury steak, vegetarian chili.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

I loved this wine. It is all strength, grippy and sinewy. It demands a deep brooding pasta. Black cherry, black plum, fruit pit and a touch of orange peel and a hit of leather. 92 Points.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Ruby red with garnet hue. Chewy, tangy and tart. Well balanced, mouthwatering acidity. Red berry, ripe black cherry, wet stone minerality. Medium plus fine tannins. Pairs well with braised beef. Tasted 2015 vintage in May 2018. 89 points. Good value.
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Medium garnet colour with medium body and balanced acidity. Notes of dark berries and dried fig. Great value wine. Would pair well with wood-fired vegetarian pizza. Tasted May 06, 2018.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Salted blackberry, pomegranate and a whiff of sweaty socks meet gravel driven stones. Think - hiking boots! Flavours are layered with light plums, sour cherry candy and salty coppery ash driven minerals. Dry, with fully present tannins. Pair with Bresaola and medium bodied cheeses. 89 points - tasted May 6, 2018.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Aromas of leather, black licorice candy, and some cherry. Lots of that anise note on the palate, with some soft tannin. Enjoy with hard or aged cheeses and cured meats.
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

Dried fruit (dates and prune) with a background of tar and black peppercorn. A savoury, chewy wine. Interesting but hard to pair with food.
Cantina Di Venosa`s Verbo 2015 is a great value Aglianico under $20 from the Aglianico Del Vulture appellation in the Basilicata wine region, Southern Italy. Pair it with a wood-fired pizza topped with meat and lots of cheese. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
