Reviews and Ratings

Tania Thomas - CSW, WSET ADV rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This iconic Niagara red blend comes in a cool commemorative bottle in a celebration of its 25th vintage. Vinified with 55% Cabernet Franc, 25% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes following 12 months of oak barrel aging. Full in body with grippy tannins. Lovely depth of aromas and flavours with layers of ripe dark fruit, mocha and smoke, leading to a long, lingering cedar-toned finish. A given as a pairing with summer BBQ, from grilled steaks to juicy lamb and pork chops. Drink now through 2024. Tasted June 2016/90 points.Tania Thomas – www.runawaygrape.com.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The Trius 2013 is an elegant wine, made in the beautiful Niagara region. The wine reveals seductive aromas of black plum, blackberry, bay leaf, leather, molasses, cigar box, spice and oak. Made from a Meritage-style blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine shows a medium body, good structure, polished tannins and well layered acidity. Flavors reveal tart plum, cherry, coffee, mint, cocoa, dill, dark chocolate and cedar, with a dry and delicious long finish. Enjoy!
Jerry Wettlaufer rated this wine as 88/100

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
