Reviews and Ratings

GRAN SELEZIONE / The taste of maturity: tanned leather, dried fruit and herbs. Lovely moth-watering acidity for a rack of lamb. Elegant with a long finish. A rich and velvety-textured Chianti Classico with balsamic, walnut and dried cherry aromas and flavours. Full body, chewy tannins and a long, flavourful finish. This is structured. Excellent for a 2010. Holding on beautifully. A single vineyard red. Drink or hold. Score - 93 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Oct. 29, 2015). MINE: Villa Trasqua Nerento Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2010 is a Sangiovese Blend from Italy's Tuscany wine region, 14.5% alcohol, full-bodied and smooth and very dry at 2 g/l of sugar. Drink or hold in cellar for up to five years. OTHER: Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: intense smoke, dried sage, vanilla, and cherry dominate the aromas. The palate shows a hefty (med +) body with notes that repeat from the nose. Acidity is high and lingering leaving the mouth watering for more. Overall, balance and structure are well integrated. Enjoy pairing with eggplant parmesan. Tasted Nov 2016 - @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca. OTHER: This shows a lovely balance between fresh orange peel and citrus and riper notes of treacle tart, tar, red licorice, tobacco and spices. Full body, a plush and velvety ball of tannins and a driven line of acidity, which carries this suave Chianti Classico through to a long, delightful finish. Drink in 2021. Score - 95 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Sept. 11, 2018). - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
