Reviews and Ratings

This robust yet elegant Italian red wine is 95% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Nerello Cappuccio grapes. This Sicilian red wine is great with any game dish or sausage casserole. Tornatore has great backbone acidity and smooth tannins. Drink now and for the next five years. Dark, earthy, racy and rich with black cherry and smoke. Perfect volcanic wine. Pair with spicy sausages. MINE: Tornatore 2015 is a 95% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Nerello Cappuccio robust and juicy red wine blend from Etna in the Sicily wine region. On the nose, the wine aromatic with raspberry and rose petals. On the palate, this wine is dry, smooth with liquid dark cherries, smoke and spice. Great acidity for food. Pair with roast pheasant. This vintage scored 3 Glasses out of 3 glasses in the Gambero Rosso Italian Wines, 2018 review. OTHER: Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review: A blend of 95% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Nerello Cappuccio, from one of my favourite regions in Italy – Etna Rosso – this dry wine is light-bodied with notes of red fruit and cherries, as well as some baked strawberries and rhubarb. Very low in tannin, with good acidity, this elegant and delicate alternative to any light Pinot Noir or Gamay Noir is great paired with lighter dishes such as: charcuterie, duck, and pink-fleshed fish. Quite delicious and good value for money, this is a rarity at the LCBO – grab it while you can! OTHER: Structured and complex with smoky notions of dark cherry, wild raspberry and cured meat. This is made from 95% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Nerello Cappuccio grown in the foothills of Europe's highest active volcano. There's a bit of a Barbaresco vibe going on, but it's definitely its own thing. The finish brings a lovely mineral aspect, too. This will be best through 2025 with grilled or roasted meats. Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
