Smoky, moody and brooding with seductive aromas of fleshy ripe back fruit. A tasty, meaty, savoury red with notes of blackberry, bacon fat, cedar spice and black plum. Absolutely delicious! Pair with a pepper steak.

Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre food pairings: pepper steak, saucy sausages, meat pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This Barossa Valley blend, emulating the Southern Rhone-style reds, is showing intense ripe cherry, black plum, mint leaf, earthiness, and smoke/flint notes. Tannins are ripe (med-smooth) and acidity is medium (integrated and balanced). Not to mention this wine is full bodied with a long luscious finish. Enjoy pairing with grilled elk or bison medallions. Tasted July 2016. @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
The 2013 vintage of Torbreck’s Old Vines Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre is produced from hand-picked grapes from the Barossa Valley, home to some very ancient vines; some more than 100 years old. The grapes are then treated to gentle basket-pressing to free their juices, fermented and then aged in older French oak barrels. This tender loving care is evident in their wine -- lots of ripe, concentrated dark fruit with layers of spice, meat, leather and smoke. Nicely done and delicious. - Community Wine Review
