Loads of sweet chocolate and mocha on the nose of this smooth, full-bodied red wine from southern Italy's island of Sicily. Pair with Mexican mole.

Reviews and Ratings

Peter Wilkins rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Comparable value alternative to some California Zins.
Good with red meat, BarBQ
Kimberly Inksater - Sommelier rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Dark lush berries, black pepper, and toasted wood aromas are accompanied by the bold 14.5% alcohol. Silky smooth on the palate, low tannins, a good acidity and dry on the finish. A California oak forward style of primitivo from Puglia. I enjoyed it with spaghetti bolognese. A good value wine for hearty meat-based meals.
Melanie Aubert rated this wine as 83/100 with the following review:

Intense ruby red, lots of dark cherry, dark fruit, raisin and plum on the nose. Smells delicious. On the palate, more of the same: black cherry, clove, sweet spice, vanilla and lots of dried fruit. Medium body, fairly low on tannins. Old World meets New World in this American-style Italian primitivo. Primitivo and zinfandel are genetically the same grape. And with zinfandel gaining popularity, this Italian wine probably wanted to benefit from that, so has been made in a similar style to the California zinfandels, likely specifically for sale on this side of the pond. Great with pulled pork.
