So dark purple in the glass, this Petit Sirah is smoky and spicy with ripe dark berry aromas on the nose. Dry, full-bodied with a concentration of blackberry, blueberry, dried herbs, anise and a smattering of cracked black pepper flavours on the palate. Lovely soft smoky finish. Tannins are fine and this smoky Petit Sirah is well-balanced overall. Pair with full-bodied meaty game dishes.

Petite Sirah food pairings: venison, barbecued steak, pork tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Beautiful, rich, and flavourful. Aromas of dark berry, smoke and a hint of graphite and warm spice. Full bodied and smooth, with medium acidity, tons of ripe dark berry, along with hints of vanilla, spice, and smoke. Enjoy with a roast beef dinner.
Napa Valley's Stags' Leap Winery 2016 Petit Sirah is actually a very full-bodied blend of 80% Petit Sirah with Syrah and Grenache grapes and a splash of Viognier and Carignan. Lifted and perfumed with fresh ripe blueberry, blackberry, savoury herbs, black pepper and cedar spice wrapped up in a veil of smoke. Tannins are firm. Decant two hours prior to pouring with a well-marbled ribeye steak or hold three more years in cellar. - Community Wine Reviews
