Reviews and Ratings

RISERVA / A polished, silky Italian red wine with racy acidity and black fruit and toasty oak aromas. Lots of dark plum notes and mocha on the mid-palate and finish. This robust Chianti Classico is a red wine made from the Sangiovese grape with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, and the wine is aged for 24 months in French Allier barrels. Pair with pasta in a meat sauce or grilled meats. Decant 1 hour. Polished tannins, good concentration of flavour. MINE: Rocca Delle Macìe Zingarelli Riserva is a Chianti Classico from the Tuscany wine region with a toasty oak and ripe black fruit nose. Produced by Famiglia Zingarelli this is a dark, robust mouth-watering mostly Italian Sangiovese red with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The wine was then aged for 24 months in French Allier barrels. Drink now and for the next five years. Decant one hour and pair with pasta in a meat sauce or grilled meats. OTHER: Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Made from the Sangiovese grape, this luscious red wine is mouth-watering with ripe dark fruit, a pleasant earthiness, chocolate and oak on the full bodied palate - dry with firm, grippy tannins. Lots of dark plum notes and a hint of dark chocolate on the mid-palate with soft plum on the finish. OTHER: Aromas of blackberries, wet earth, lavender and blueberries. Full-bodied, deep and layered with bright acidity and a bacon-fat, mushroom, smoked-meat and fruit aftertaste. Soft tannins, too. A unique wine. Drink now or hold. Score - 95 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Sept. 11, 2018). - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
