Dark fruit, smoke and oak on the nose and palate of this robust Italian red wine. Hint of smoke. Full-bodied and supple and lip-smacking delicious Italian red wine. Try it with combination pizza or spicy sausages. Nice finish.

Ripasso Valpolicella Classico food pairings: meat lovers pizza , spicy sausage , prime rib roast, hearty winter stew.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Lloyd rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Black cherry aromas are found in this full-bodied wine, as well as raspberry jam, floral notes, red licorice and subtle hints of vanilla. On the palate, we have sour cherry tartness and ripe red berries as well as blackberries. It has silky tannins and it is absolutely delicious!

Tasted November 2017
The Speri Family has been making wine for more than 150 years with the fifth generation of the family now at the helm. The 2015 Pigaro Ripasso Valpolicella Classico from the Veneto wine region is black cherry on the nose with just a hint of smoke. Full-bodied and supple with mouth watering acidity, pair this beauty with cheesy pepperoni pizza or grilled spicy Italian sausages. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
