A juicy, robust, vibrant Chianti Reserva that's ready for more cellar aging: it has lots of potential, yet it's also ready to drink now. Aromas of black fruit, tar and smoke. The 2013 vintage was solid. The grapes for this wine come from the oldest vines on the Nipozzano estate, and the wine is aged for 24 months in oak barrels, according to ancient Tuscan tradition. Decant 1-2 hours. Pair with gourmet pizza.

Chianti Rúfina food pairings: grilled pork ribs, veal Parmigiano, spaghetti and meatballs.

Reviews and Ratings

Nipozzano's Vecchie Viti Riserva 2014 is a Chianti Rúfina from the Tuscany wine region, produced by Frescobaldi. This is a juicy and robust red produced from Sangiovese, Malvasia Nera, Colorino and Canaiolo red wine grapes. On the nose the wine is fragrant with ripe black, blueberries and earthy spices. On the palate, there is more ripe black and blue fruit with dark chocolate and savoury spice flavours. The grapes for this wine come from the oldest vines on the Nipozzano estate, and the wine is aged for 24 months in oak barrels, according to ancient Tuscan tradition. Decant 1-2 hours and pair with venison stew. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
