Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Niagara's ultra premium boutique winery, Icellars, produced a stunning Riesling Icewine that highlights the strength of the exceptional 2016 vintage. Picked on December 24th, and bottled in spring 2017, this decadent and refreshing wine showcases beautifully the strengths of Niagara Riesling in a style that Canada does better than anyone else, Icewine. Expressive wildflower honey, caramelized pineapple, honeydew, poached pear, and subtle petrol notes on the nose and palate. Mouthwatering and full bodied, the crisp acidity and creamy texture offer such a paradox which makes this wine so unique, expressive, and delicious. Fantastic when paired with flambé, such as Pineapple Icewine Flambé, Bananas Foster, Bombe Alaska, and Cherries Jubilee. Enjoy this fantastic Icewine over the next decade and beyond. Tasted July 2018. 94 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

An ideal combination of luxurious and invigorating rarely seen in Icewine, but an Icewine of this calibre is rarely seen. Enrapturing nose filled with wildflower honey, grilled pineapple, melon, baked apple, and poached pear. The high acidity cuts sweetness leaving no trace of any syrupy or cloying nature. On the contrast, there's a beguiling creamy texture somehow simultaneously coexisting with the refreshing acidity. Honey and apple pie are front and centre on the palate, but there's room for pear, candied lemon, and tropical fruits to move in during the long finish. A real treat to enjoy a wine crafted so beautifully. An exciting tipple that needs an equally entertaining pairing - try with flambe desserts, especially peach.
