Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A gorgeous Chilean Syrah. Dusty medium tannins, medium alcohol, concentrated and well balanced. Juicy red and black berry, savoury, earthy sage, subtle oak well integrated. Pairs well with charcuterie, bison burgers and easily enjoyable without food. Tasted 2015 vintage in August 2018, decanted two hours. 91 points #greatvalue
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This wine is always good. This vintage is heavy on the hung meat, coffee, and dark chocolate, along with the savoury herb-laced cherry and plum fruit. Pair with beef. 90 Points.
Jay Denney rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

I feel like I want to create a new acronym:

GVAABBF: Great value as always but becoming formulaic.

There are many wines like this, where the vintage doesn`t seem to much matter, it just tastes like it always tasted. Hmmm, maybe a subject for a longer blog post...
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted August 12, 2018. Colour deep dark red colour. Legs thick. Aromas and flavours of blackberry jam, black stewed plums, sweet tobacco, spices. Taste extra dry, full bodied, black fruit, chalky tannin, heat. Finish medium to long hot heated black fruit.
BBQ wine that will match with sweet rich sauces. I had a BBQ chicken I would say the wine overpowered the flavour of the chicken.
The Syrah wine grapes for this Montes Alpha (2015) were dry-farmed in the Colchagua Valley. Great value under $20 from a well-known producer on this medium-bodied and elegant red. Enjoy now. - Community Wine Reviews
