Monasterio De Las Viñas San José De Aguarón Reserva is a spicy Grenache, Tempranillo and Cariñena red wine blend from the Cariñena wine region. Lovely, medium-bodied smooth red with earthy, ripe red berry, and dried herb flavours on the palate. Pair with grilled meats.

Garnacha Tempranillo Cariñena food pairings: grilled lamb chops, roast of pork in wine jus.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Points for Value!
Friday night and what's in my glass? It's a medium+ bodied Spanish red Monasterio de las Viñas - a blend of Garnacha, Tempranillo, and Cariñena. No shortage of luscious dark fruit, as well as warm baking spices, toasted oak, cherries, vanilla and some warming alcohol. Smooth as Graceland's velvet wallpaper.
A bargain at $14.95 Vintages @lcbo! Love the frosted green bottle! A buy 2 wine.
Pairing suggestions: fire up the BBQ and char some red meat; mesquite chicken; fajitas; rack of lamb; assorted hard cheeses.

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Red fruit, pleasant oak, and hints of dried herbs and earthy notes wrapped up in a package with decent body, grippy tannins, and food-friendly acidity. Even some subtleties and complexities as this wine punches above its price point and delivers excellent value. Serve with rich poultry such as duck or turkey, or beef brisket.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Aromas of dark berry, dried herbs, leather and smoke. Full bodied with some grippy tannins, lots of ripe, dark fruit hints and a hint of spice and smoke on the finish. Enjoy with grilled meats.
From the Cariñena Wine Region, Monasterio De Las Viñas 2014 is a well-priced Grenache, Tempranillo and Cariñena Reserva. Juicy and mouth-watering, if not a little reserved with bright red fruits, dried herbs and cracked pepper flavours. Enjoy now or cellar for two more years. Pair with barbecued meats. - Community Wine Reviews
