Michele Chiarlo Le Orme 16 Mesi 2016 is a smokey full-bodied Barbera D'asti with intense layers of chary black fruit, mocha and toasty oak on the nose. On the palate there is juicy plum, ripe cherry, dark chocolate, sweet spice and black tea flavours matched with zesty acidity and supple tannins. Pair with rare meats.

Barbera d'Asti food pairings: cheesy pizza, roasted pepper, tomato and pasta casserole, grilled Italian sausages.

Reviews and Ratings

Trent Mayers rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Barbera is a lesser known wine from Piedmont that is ready to drink with no aging necessary. It has tannins in lower range and high acidity that make it wonderful with food. Expect some fruity dark cherry, sweet spices, and licorice from this red. Pairs beautifully with tomato based dishes with cheese like Chicken Parmesan with a side of pasta. Drink now or hold short term. 3.5+ stars out of 5.
From the Piedmont wine region, Michele Chiarlo Le Orme 16 Mesi 2016 is a great-value-under-$20, dry, smoky, full-bodied Barbera D'asti with intense layers of dark cherry, red berry, and anise flavours on the palate. Drinking beautiful now! - Community Wine Reviews
