Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

An elegant example from Spain's Rioja D.O.C . and one of Spain's most famous wines. Generations of winelovers have enjoyed this wine, including Ernest Hemingway, Salvador Dalí and Frederick Forsyth. Me too! This blend of 96% Tempranillo with 4% Graciano has a perfumed nose of blackcurrant, ripe cherry, cinnamon and cedar. The voluptuous palate shows the same dark berries, vanilla, licorice, sweet spice and cedar in a velvety mouthfeel with soft tannins. Excellent structure and lingering balsamic finish. Aged 24 mos. in American oak barrels. Enjoy this with roast lamb, duck, turkey or beef.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
