Natalie's Score: 91/100

Gorgeously rich and full-bodied Italian red wine with aromas of mocha, coffee-espresso and black fruit on the nose. More luscious dark berries and plums on the palate of this full-bodied, smooth and delicious wine. This wine previously won a Gold Medal at the Sélections Mondiales des Vins in Montreal. Try with hamburgers and all the fixins.

Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: cheese stuffed tortellini with rich tomato sauce, veal parmesan, chicken stew and roasted vegetables.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A fragrant and floral Sangiovese-Cabernet Sauvignon blend with bursting notes of ripe berries, violets, vanilla, and spice. This wine is off-dry with high young tannins, moderate acidity, and a long [cocacola-esque] finish. Tasted Nov 2016 - @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
The Umberto Cesari winery celebrates its 5-year anniversary in 2016 for being named Italian Winery of the Year at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London. Liano (2013) is a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
