This excellent red blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and Cinsaut is the reason Chateauneuf-du-pape is so well liked. Delicately scented yet powerful at the same time. Roses and dried flowers marry together with dried cherries and cranberries. It just keeps giving you more with every sip. Deliciously complex. Try with a lentil and sausage cassoulet. @wrightwineblog

The winery started over 300 years ago, and you can truly taste the experience in their wines. Le cailloux means 'the pebbles’ - this wine is named after the cobblestone that fills the vineyards and contributes to its unique flavours. Bold, full bodied, rich and robust - as many red Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines are. It has quite an extensive length with red fruit, leather, and peppery notes on the palate. Very enjoyable wine - have on its own, or with heavily roasted or braised meat dishes. Good for its price.

"Les Cailloux" translate to "the pebbles" which is the terroir and soil conditions for the region that grows grapes for Chateauneuf du Pape. Full-bodied with herbal (thyme, rosemary) and red berry aromas. The typical GSM blend (Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah) with some Cinsault. Well-balanced, earthy, even spicy on the palate with a medium smooth finish. Serve with lamb or beef. This wine can be decanted and the ageing potential is long, recommended up to 15 years. Tasted January 2020.

From the Rhône wine region, Les Cailloux 2016 is a toothsome, medium-bodied 70% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah and 5% Cinsault Châteauneuf-Du-Pape from a great vintage. Even complex on the nose with pink florals, dried wild herbs, red berry fruit and just as lovely on the palate. Very flavourful, Balanced and structured with good acidity for a roast beef dinner. Enjoy now, but can easily cellar for another 15 years. - Community Wine Reviews
