Rustic, dry and terrific with distinctive aromas of maturity: think tanned leather, violets, dried herbs and wild black cherry though not fruity. Nice mouth-watering acidity for a variety of dishes. Highly recommended. Finishes with cedar smoke, violets, and black tart cherry.

Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore food pairings: hearty meat dishes, coffee-rubbed grilled chicken, steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The 2010 Le Ragose Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Classico Superiore is an estate bottled , 13.5% ABV, is a garnet red with old world character boldly showing its terroir and a wonderful expression of dry racked Sangiovese. Full bodied and well balanced, this wine is a superior value and high quality Ripasso. Ready to enjoy now.
Terry Jeans - Certified S rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Medium to full bodied, with loads of aromas and complexity. Dried fruits, peppery, cedar notes and mocha. This is a great food wine and is exceptional value for a meaty Italian dish.
Ian rated this wine as 91/100
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Fragrant nose with violets, vanilla and ripe cherries. Palate shows lots of red berries, vanilla, subtle herbs, cedar and vanilla. Very smooth, velvety mouthfeel and long cherry finish.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This wine has so much personality! Peppery black fruit with a hint of earthiness on the nose reminds you that this is a Ripasso. A good backbone of tannin and acidity makes this a food friendly wine, especially pasta dishes.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Very nice medium bodied Ripasso. Slight garnet colour, the nose displays hints of dried grapes, cedar, and leather. Enjoy with rich Italian cuisine. Carbonara would be ideal! Tasted April 2015. 89+ points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
This robust Italian red wine uses the ripasso method to add richness, depth and flavour to the finished wine. Decant 1-2 hours and enjoy. Pair with a meat dish in a tangy sauce. - Community Wine Reviews
