The 2014 vintage was strong for Sicily. This robust Italian red wine is made from the island's classic Nero d'Avola grape from Vigna Lagnusa. Some medicinal notes and black fruit on the nose. Very supple and smooth on the palate. Fleshy ripe plums . Pair with grilled meats.
Nero D'avola food pairings: roast chicken, roasted root vegetables, meaty stews.

Melanie Lloyd, Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:
Juicy black plums and blackberry aromas as well as cedar, menthol, black tea, autumn leaves, and sous-bois.
On the palate, the tannins are medium and are well integrated with dark fruit flavours as well as espresso, cocoa and notes of wood, and a slightly bitter finish.

Andrea Shapiro - Andrea's Wine Cellar rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:
Decant 1.5 - 3 hours. Needs to open up. Medium ruby colour with rich aromas of blackcurrant, strawberry, toasted almonds , salty raspberries, grilled fennel, fresh tarragon and earthy potting soil. Flavours are sublimely vivacious with grilled cherry, blackberry, red pepper, dried bay leaves, cinnamon spiciness and heated jalapeño warmth. High acidity, medium plus tannins and body with a fresh crisp finish. Cigar box notes persisting. This was fruity and refreshing with a touch of salty minerals. Pair with peppered spicy salami, olive tapenade and crostini.

Feudo Montoni Lagnusa (2014) is a full-bodied, rustic Sicilian Nero D'avola. This is a great vintage intense with rich blackberry, plum fruit and savoury spice on the palate. The winery name (Lagnusa) is the Sicilian word for lazy, so named because of low grape yields produced in the vineyard. Drink now and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews
