Seductive fleshy blackberry and black on the nose and palate of this full-bodied, supple French red wine that's a blend of syrah and Grenache grapes. The vines are planted on south-facing terraces at the foot of the Pyrenees, Cote Sud translates to South Side. The white sister wine of this red is called Cote Est or East Side... sounds like a Broadway musical. Eastside Story ;) This southern French red wine was matured in concrete tanks. This wine will reward short-term cellaring of a few years. Pair with grilled meats.

Food pairings: breaded veal cutlets, duck breast with celeriac purée, pomegranate gastrique and Brussel sprout ragout, tagliatelle alla Bolognese, chicken herb-rubbed roast.

A full-bodied dark purple blend of Syrah and Grenache Noir from France's Rousillon I.G.T. at the foot of the Pyrenees. You can almost taste the sunshine in the robust dark berry, dried herbal and spicy aromas and flavours. Terrific value at a surprising price. Enjoy with grilled meats, savoury olives and hard cheeses.

This Syrah/Grenache blend gets points for complexity value! Lots to love starting with the abundance of dark fruit ripened under the sunshine of the South facing Pyrenees slopes. Tank aged to preserve freshness and purity of fruit. Fresh raspberry, candied cherry, minerality and herbs de provence with good acid to fruit ratio. Easily sipped on it's own. Light-bodied and polishing tannins. This is a buy 2 wine if you can still find it in stores.

This Cote Sud comprised of Syrah and Grenache grapes is a lovely garnet with long, droopy legs. Since it was aged in concrete vessels, the fruit has been preserved. And it is fruity. Lots of blackberry and cherry on the nose, along with anise. On the palate is a very dry wine, with tannins that grip just a little (it's still young).

Pair this with fowl or pork dishes. For $15.95 this is a great deal.

From South of France's Cotes Catalanes, Lafage (2014) is a medium-bodied wine blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache. The wine was matured in cement tank prior to bottling. Just a great value wine! - Community Wine Reviews
