Reviews and Ratings
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Aromas of field strawberry, peach, and watermelon. Dry, with bright, vibrant acidity on the palate, fresh fruit and berry flavors carrying through on the palate with a medium + finish. Enjoy with light fish dishes or as a summer sipper.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: A bright, fruity and mouth watering rose wine from Josh Cellars. Watermelon, peach and apricots are surrounded by soft strawberry touches. Floral touches also reveal a summery fresh feel. The acidity is well balanced and lower than expected but offers a delightful light fresh feeling with hints of melon following into the finish. Dry but with some fruity berry touches lingering (8g/L sweetness) A perfect quintessential “summer sipper” to be paired with a beachy afternoon and a book. 88 points - tasted April 2018
Paula Bernardino rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review: This was my weekend pick. I tried this great rosé from Josh Cellars in California. I purchased a bottle through the private import option at Montreal’s annual SAQ event La grande dégustation. Nice light red colour with flavours of peach, this rosé was great on a Sunday evening after a sunny spring day with a gourmet pizza. 12,5% alcohol
Somm4All WSET 3 rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review: In contemplating the grapes of California, we sometimes overlook some of the more unique yet widely planted varietals – I was reminded of that upon tasting the Josh Cellars Barbera, Muscat and Syrah blend. Joseph (aka Josh) Carr’s mission when making this wine was to offer customers a bold, expressive, unassuming yet approachable wine – the result here indeed ticks all 4 boxes. Produced in stainless steels tanks, the freshness and lively fruit is preserved. 12 hours of skin contact with the juice allows for the subtle pinkish colour. Aromas of bright strawberry, melon, unripe peach and a hint of earthiness greet you, with flavours of berry, melon, peach, earth and a little orange blossom marching forth on the palate. Dry and refreshing, the Barbera heightens the red fruit aspect, with a little complexity as well, while the Muscat helps lift the body a touch. Fun, cheerful and a perfect Sunny day sipper that would also pair nicely with black pepper grilled pork skewers.
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows: Tasted July 14th 2018. Colour pale salmon. Legs light. Aromas and flavours of, strawberry, raspberry, sour cherry, watermelon. Taste dry, light body, fruity red berry, mouthwatering, low alcohol. Finish, short. Easy drinking value rose. Just add a green salad with raspberry vinaigrette.
