Reviews and Ratings

Keith Robinson reviewed this wine as follows:

AB SKU 747265

2012 Josef Spreitzer Riesling 101

Price: $20

Availability: Metrovino

Assessed by: Keith Robinson

Tasted: October 2014

Product Details: Rheingau, Germany 11.5% ABV 100% Riesling

Weingut Josef Spreitzer has been producing wine in the Rheingau region since the 17th century and are one of the very best of the area.

Sustainably grown, minimal, if any, cultured yeasts.

The Riesling 101 is a great introduction to an off-dry style, complex and interesting for us geeks, while being glug-able, pair-able and people-friendly for everyday.

The tasting: Classy wine. Beautiful aromatics of citrus, mineral and apple. The sweetness is barely perceptible, integrated nicely with acidity and fruit. Impressive, while easy on the table and the wallet.

Drink now through 2016.

Food pairing: Spreitzer's Riesling 101 will pair well with many foods from appetizers to salads to light mains.

Music pairing: Rags to Riches, Tony Bennett

Movie pairing: Fury

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
