Ironstone 2020 Merlot is a great value California Merlot at $18. Produced by the Kautz family, owners and operators of Ironstone, who began farming Lodi in 1926 and who have been making wine there ever since. Dry, fruity and rich on the palate with ripe dark plum, savoury herbs, cinnamon, anise and smoky vanilla flavours. The wine was aged up to two months in new French oak barrels. So good now. Pour with braised beef short ribs.

Merlot food pairings: grilled ribs, burgers, cheese, poultry, lamb, grilled sausages.

Produced by the Kautz family, owners and operators of Ironstone, who began farming Lodi in 1926 and who have been making wine there ever since, Ironstone 2020 Merlot is a favourite with Vintage customers and an excellent value Merlot at $18. Food-friendly, juicy and well-balanced with fresh acidity and soft rounded tannins, look for ripe dark berry, plum, dark cherry, vanilla and smoky spicy flavours on the palate. Enjoy with a roast of pork. This vintage was awarded Gold at the 2022 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. - Community Wine Reviews
