Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

From Gray Monk Estate Winery’s Odyssey Reserve series, Meritage 2012 is a full-bodied red beauty produced from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc wine grapes aged in new French oak barrels. Deep ruby in the glass, aromatic and spicy with tart cherry, savoury herbs, thyme, cracked pepper, grilled bacon and earthy dark spices, on the palate it is dry, medium-plus-bodied with ripe dark cherry, blackberry, underbrush, violets, eucalyptus, pepper, cedar spice flavours and a lingering smoky vanilla finish. Tannins are smooth. Good acidity for rich roasted meats like prime rib roast and lamb dishes. 13.7% abv. $35
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This is a lovely Meritage blend showing some age in 2021 but still with some life left. Aromas of currant, blackberry, bramble bush, dried herbs and peppery smoke. Full bodied with some soft, structured tannins, lots of ripe berry notes, and an herbaceous note on the finish, along with some floral and graphite notes. This wine is still lovely, but if you have it in your cellar I would drink it in the next 2 or 3 years with a prime rib roast.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
