Gaston Chiquet Premier Cru Champagne is such a pretty brut bubble with a delicate mousse of creamy apricot, pastry, citrus and mineral flavours vibrant and rich on the palate. Nicely balanced and so good now. Disgorged July 2018.

Brut Champagne food pairings: quiche, fresh-steamed shrimp, crab cakes, fish and chips, seafood hors d'oeuvres, salads.

Reviews and Ratings

Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

An appealing light, lemony colour with a seductive breadiness from fermented yeast characteristics on the nose, and a touch of pear and fresh lemon zest on the palate. The texture of the bubbles are fine and pleasant on the palate as they playfully tingle the tongue, bringing elegant flavours of granny smith apple to the surface. Touches of almond and slight floral notes produce a bubbly creaminess for a balanced texture. A good developing length with vibrant freshness - just as you would expect from a quality Champagne! Very good for the price.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Light and effervescent, this is elegance in a glass. Bakery aromas mingle with apple notes. Dry and nicely balanced with a fine mousse and hints of citrusy grapefruit on the palate. Vibrant, long finish. This is a rather rare chance to buy into a Premier Cru Champagne without breaking the bank. Consider it for an upcoming special occasion. Tasted July 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Intense nose of bruised apple, lemon, yeast, biscuit, and a touch of minerality. Extra dry with lively acidity. Palate shows all sorts of autolysis, big lemon notes, and more mineral. A good and long finish concludes this typical and appreciable Champagne. Enjoy with fresh oysters or buttered popcorn.
Gaston Chiquet Tradition is a non-vintage premier cru brut Champagne with aromas of pink florals on the nose, dry with ripe cherry, soft lemon, spice and fresh pastry dough flavours on the palate. Chill and enjoy. - Community Wine Reviews
