Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

This is a seriously refined Chardonnay from Fort Berens Estate Winery. White Gold 2017 is a multi-layered, opulent and a comfy-on-the-palate Chard you could sniff and sip all day and still discover more. The wine starts off with mineral undertones, lemon curd, butterscotch, ripe red apple, pear, vanilla, nutty, toasty oak spice aromas and finishes plushy, creamy, ultra-satisfying with spot-on crisp acidity. The toasty oak spice is integrating nicely on the wine and you can either drink it now or hold it in cellar for another couple of years - it will only get better, but buy a case because this Chard is pretty mind-blowing now. Chill and enjoy on its own or pair with fresh-steamed and cracked lobster claws ready for a dip in drawn butter.

White Gold 2017 is crafted exclusively from the winery’s estate premium Chardonnay. The wine was fermented with native yeasts and aged in French oak barriques for nine months prior to bottling. Tasted in July 2020 and September 2020.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
