The winery sent me the 2014 vintage of this lovely riesling to taste and evaluate, which is fortunate since it was the 2013 vintage at the LCBO tasting. Green apple and white pear. Love it. Building an inukskuk is now a ritual at the end of harvest for this winery: lifting the heavy stones requires a team effort. Pair with roast turkey and fun. The winery does whole cluster pressing to extract pure flavour, and only of the first 600 litres per tonne of fruit. Ed allows the juice to settle during a long, slow fermentation. The 2014 vintage is a blend of two distinct blocks of 21B clone vines nowin their early teens as the winery describes them. Finishes with fresh pink grapefruit notes.

Riesling food pairings: herb rubbed chicken, seafood, shellfish.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A delightful Ontario Riesling from Niagara Peninsula, with a fresh peachy nose with subtle mineral notes, followed by a bright palate with peach and green apple, lemon and slight minerality. Well-balanced, delectable acidity, long citrus finish. Pleasure at every sip!
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Pale lemon colour with intense aromas from the glass. Peach and apricot, apple, floral, flint, wet stone, petrol and balanced with refreshing Niagara acidity. This is a great expression of Niagara Riesling. Super price performer! Pair with white meats, salads or seafood. Someone once said to me, "when in doubt choose Riesling."

Melanie Aubert rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

This wine has so little colour it almost looks like water! Very little of the tell-tale riesling vinyl aroma, which is a good thing in my books. Lime, stone fruit, some floral notes and a hint of minerality make for a great seafood pairing. Medium body, low alcohol with medium-high acidity and a hint of residual sugar =a really nicely balanced wine.
