Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Supple and more accessible than the rest of the Duckhorn portfolio (except for the Decoy line). This Merlot is sourced from a variety of of vineyards throughout Napa - not just their own. It still represents their style with a touch of rusticity to it, so Ontarian palates would be very well calibrated to what Duckhorn delivers.
Lovely deep ruby, with a glass coating texture. Aromas revolve around a chocolate cake and chocolate covered plum and cherry. Brown spice, coconut, tobacco, and forest floor, as well.
The palate is deceivingly supple. It has structure, but is so drinkable already. Gobs of darker fruit appear on the palate. Damson plum, macerated cherry, burnt sugar, earth, chocolate, blackberry jam, and vanilla.
If you enjoyed this, check out Duckhorn's Cabernet Franc. Both are fantastic wines from Northern Cali to enjoy with their namesake animal.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
