A robust and tannic red wine with smoky, savoury herb and tarry black fruit aromas. Showing great promise and a perfect one for the cellar. The Imperial Reserva is a full-bodied red blend of Tempranillo with 15% Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha sourced from the Rioja Alta. Cellar for three years and enjoy for the next 10.

Food pairings: roast rosemary lamb, bison burgers, roast grouse.

Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Powerful nose consisting of blueberry, black cherry, and plum supported by mild and graceful oak, savoury dried herbs, vanilla, cocoa, and sweet smoke. Nicely structured with a winning combination of vibrant acidity, firm but rounded tannins, and a full body. Palate is complex and layered, revolving to share the ripe dark fruits, integrated oak, and subtle tertiary stylings of leather and toasted almond. The impressive finish lasts for in excess of a minute. Savour with grilled pigeon and white truffle.
Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España Imperial Reserva 2014 is smoky with tanned leather, dark berry, plum compote, savoury herb and cedar spice flavours on the palate, But this full-bodied and monster red made from Tempranillo, Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha sourced from the Rioja Alta would benefit from about three years in cellar. - Community Wine Reviews
