Reviews and Ratings

Keith Robinson reviewed this wine as follows:

2008 Lopez De Haro Crianza

Price: $15.18 (really. This good.)

Availability: Crowfoot and others

Assessed by: Keith Robinson

Tasted: September 2014

Product Details: Rioja, Spain 13.5% ABV, Tempranillo, garnacha, Graciano

Rioja is Spain's oldest fine wine region. Generally wines from Rioja are aged longer before released for sale. So on the shelf you will see older vintages of Rioja wines compared to other regions of the world.

Traditional Riojas are woody with underlying soft raspberry and black plum fruit.

The tasting: Lovely nose of oak and dark fruit. Medium bodied, very soft on palate with herbs and a hint of leather. Very drinkable; very, very friendly and remarkable at the price. So much great wine at reasonable prices still come from Spain!

Drink in the next couple of years.

What to read with: Death in the Afternoon, E. Hemingway

Food pairing: Great dinner wine with any meat based meal.

Music Pairing: Let Them Talk, Hugh Laurie

When to drink: Not a loud party wine. Drink at dinner or on the couch.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
