Natalie's Score: 92/100

The 2014 vintage of this Reserva is robust, attractive red wine blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 5% Mazuelo and 5% Garnacha grapes. Aromas of dark berries, smoke and a deep core of minerality, showing its roots in limestone soils. This wine underwent fermentation in stainless steel tanks, then it was barrel aged for 24 months (50% French and American oak). Pair with hearty meat dishes.

Food pairings: grilled pork chops, roast pheasant, grilled game sausage.

Reviews and Ratings

Contino 2014 Reserva is robust and rich red wine blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 3% Mazuelo and 2% Grenache from the Rioja wine region. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tank and aged in 50% French and American oak barrels for two years. Incredible nose of dried florals, savoury spice and cedar box aromas, with ripe dark plum, red cherry, savoury spice and smoky flavours on the palate. A very interesting, tasty dry and full-bodied red. Enjoy now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
