Natalie's Score: 90/100

Cliff Lede's Stags Leap District is a robust California red wine blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Look for ripe, smoky dark plum, sweet tobacco leaf and cherry liqueur flavours full on the palate. Tannins are firm and grippy. Enjoy now and decant two hours prior to pouring with a well-marbled rib steak. Can easily cellar for another 10 years.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: roast Tomahawk rib steak with sautéed mushrooms, grilled venison steak, roast pheasant.

Reviews and Ratings

Cliff Lede's 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is smoky with ripe dark plum and cherry liqueur aromas on the nose, dry and full-bodied with cassis, plum compote, dried tobacco leaf and dark spice flavours on the palate. Tannins are firm and grippy. Decant one hour prior to pouring with a game roast. Enjoy now and for the next eight years. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
