Beautiful Southern Rhone medium-plus, unfiltered, red wine blend of 75% Grenache with Syrah and some Mourvèdre grapes from "vielles vignes" in the Costières De Nîmes, Rhône wine region. Produced by Michel Gassier. Wine grapes are destemmed and the blend is matured for 1 year on the lees in French oak barrels. The Grenache portion is kept in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness.

Food pairings: roast leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic, grilled meats, tourtière.

Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Intensely ripe and fruity nose led by black cherry and raspberry with pepper, licorice, and oak hints. Decent body, round tannins, and good acidity. More dark fruit on the palate with black cherry and blackberry followed by an earthy hint. An accessible and easy-drinking red suitable for roasts and vegetables.
Château De Nages 2016 is an Old Vines Grenache with some Syrah and Mourvèdre wine grapes added in, sourced from the Costières De Nîmes, Rhône Wine Region. Fantastic value under $20. Produced by Michel Gassier. Look for dark cherry, anise and cake spice on this medium-bodied dry red ready for a roasted rack of lamb. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
