Produced by Jérémie Huchet, vigneron, this winery is located on the hills overlooking the River Sevre where the earliest known vineyards date back to 1387. I can smell the sea on this Muscadet Sèvre Et Maine sur Lie with its grapefruit, lime, briny mineral flavours and mouth-watering acidity - a perfect match to steamed shellfish. Produced from Melon de Bourgogne grapes from vines that average 45 years of age.

Muscadet food pairings: raw oysters on the half shell with lemon and herb dressing, oyster hot pot, mussels Meuniere.

From Château De La Bretesche, a zesty Muscadet Sèvre Et Maine sur Lie from the Loire wine region. Love the vibrant grapefruit acidity on this medium-bodied Melon de Bourgogne made for a steamed mussel hotpot. Zesty grapefruit, citrus, flinty with a briny mineral finish and mouth-watering finish. Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
