Reviews and Ratings

L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep purple full bodied blend of 50% Monastrell and 50% Syrah. Both grapes are from single vineyards: Monastrell: Single vineyard 650 metres above sea level, limestone soils ; average age of vineyards is 30 years old in dry agriculture.
Syrah. Single vineyard 660 meters above sea level. Extremely limestone soils, with little iron but with silica good levels, which reduces the limestone activity so vineyard roots can dig deep. These soils bring freshness and minerality found inBilogia. Average age is 10 years old in dry agriculture.
Ripe and juicy aroma of blackberries, with dark cherries and a hint of plum, smoky, some rose notes, vanilla, black pepper and a pleasant minerality. This is a very well balanced wine, fresh and complex, perfect for drinking any time. The finish is long and juicy, redolent of blackberries and pepper. As well as being a pleasant sipper on its own this would pair well with grilled lamb.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
