This still has many cellar years ahead of it. Robust with a firm tannic grip, this northern Italian red wine will smooth with time and then decant 1-2 hours and pair with rare meats. Aromas of black fruit, tar, violets and smoke.

Reviews and Ratings

Kristin Perrin rated this wine as 96/100 with the following review:

Nose: Although just a baby, showing some leathery dried fruit characteristics such as raisins, prunes, dried cherries, medicinal herbs notes, coffee notes
Palate: Dried cherries, raisins, red & black currant, licorice, nutmeg, cinnamon, herbal notes, dark chocolate & espresso, high acidity matched with tannin yet beautifully integrated.
Drinking well now, but will continue to round out & improve for 10-15 years.
Pair with lamb or steak dishes, hard aged cheeses, dark chocolate, meaty ragu pasta dishes
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Aromatic with rich notes of raisins, currants and stewed fruit lead to a delicious palate that adds tea, baking spice and sous bois touches. Will benefit from cellaring but shows lovely potential. Would pair well with game or venison.

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

A very pretty wine. Dried and fresh red berries, herbs, citrus, mushroom, and a hit of forest floor on finish. 93 points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Caitlin Coleman rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This powerful wine has a warm nose of black fruits, tobacco, umami and licorice. Lots of sweet chewy tannin. This wine is amazing!
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

A lovely earthiness is brimming out the glass, characteristic of the terroir - dark cherry, leather and spice - impeccably balanced. Divine. Tasted November 2017.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

One sexy Brunello! Heady aromas of leather, dark plums and roses, transform to a very persistent and velvety mouth feel. A lovely gift this holiday season for the Brunello lover in your life!
Tasted November 2017.
Gwen Barton rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Intense, rich colour with dark fruit and forest floor aromas. Liquorice, prune and sweet tobacco flavours . Fairly smooth for a you g Brunello. It’s loveliness will increase with age. Pair with herbed beef or lamb. Tasted Nov 2017
Simon Chen rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

bright cherry aromas, medium body, good acidity, smooth tannin. It's ready to drink upon pnp but a 1 hour decant will make the one more smooth. Pair nicely with osso bucco or stew meats.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The nose is subtle with nuances of dark fruit, leather and smoke. Delicious flavours of black cherry and tobacco (in a good way). Tannins are very evident and nicely balanced with good acidity. This is a wine with plenty of ageing ability. Medium balanced with a long tannic finish. Gorgeous - now I want Italian food for dinner!
Wineboy rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Lovely aromatic Brunello. Done in a touch more earthy and less floral style, reminds me of a premium Chianti more than Brunello. Lovely freshness from the acids, balanced by a touch of sweetness makes it beautiful.
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Medium garnet, the nose shows cherry, cedar, herb and vanilla and mineral notes. Medium full bodied, juicy with cherry, berry and spice dominant with a silky mouthfeel. The tannins creep up on the long finish. Lovely wine now, and will gain complexity over the next 10 years.

Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A great wine for pairing with winter food favourites...think roast beef or lamb or
hearty tomato based Italian dishes. Dark cherry and leather on the nose followed by baking spice, dried cherry and a hint of tobacco on the palate. Nice balanced tannins. Tasted November 19, 2017.
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Dark ruby in colour with aromas of black cherry, leather, cedar, plum and dark berries. It is full bodied and well balanced with flavours of black cherry, cedar, blackberry and baking spices. This will pair well with grilled red meats and tomato & cheese pasta dishes. Tasted on November 19, 2017.
Donna Hargrove rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Medium red in colour, this aromatic brunello has hints of dried red fruit and spices which makes for a delicious combination. Good wine for red meat stews.

Emilie Ryan rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Have this by a fire on a cold winter’s day.…
Presentation: Traditional yet classy, although the drawing in the middle comes across as amateur, half-finished
Appearance: Medium garnet
Nose: Medium nose, tobacco, leather, fennel, rare meat, dark fruit (dark cherries and blackberries)
Taste: Dry, full body, medium acidity, strong, drying tannins, with notes of earth, leather, wood, sour cranberries, smoke
Finish: long earth and green notes
Overall impression: The bottle says to decant this for four hours and we believe it. It felt like an assault to the senses, but we can see this pairing with robust, savoury, winter foods, such as roast beef, gnocchi, and peppercorn steak. We tasted it with some Guiness cheese with great success. Have this by a fire on a cold winter’s day.
Value: 2/5
