Reviews and Ratings

Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The 2008 Campo Viejo Reserva is composed of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo that was aged for 18 months in 50-50 French and American casks prior to release. The wine has intense aromas of vanilla, oak, milky cherry, clove and earth. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, fruity wine; with good acidity, refined tannins (decant for 15-30 min) and a medium finish. Drink with food or sip on its own; drink now – 2018+. My impression: NICE, 88 pts. Tasted Dec/13.

Sara M - WSET Advanced reviewed this wine as follows:

Full-bodied and powerful, with edgy acidity and grippy tannins. Aromas of red currants, plums, vanilla and musk lead into the palate, with cedar notes on the finish to reflect the oak aging of the wine. Pair with lamb roasts, game meats and hard, strong cheeses. Decant 2 hours before serving. Drink now or age in cellar up to 7 years.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
